Freeze Dried Flowers

Freeze dried flowers are often felt to be the most effective in appearance. This is because the process allows for them to seem very realistic. The use of this method will generally take several days.

To create freeze dried flowers, plants are placed within a refrigerated chamber. The temperature of this chamber is then lowered until it is below freezing. The use of extremely cold temperatures is obviously how the method gets its name.

The freeze dried flowers become dry through the creation of a vacuum within the chamber. This makes the moisture of the flowers change from a solid form into a gaseous one. The vapor is then collected in another chamber and the flowers are slowly warmed to room temperature. Due to the time it takes and the expense of the equipment involved, generally only professionals use this process.
