Dried Flower Supplies

Dried flower supplies include many different desiccants. These are chosen because air-drying can lead to misshapen foliage. Flowers with a flat, open shape or a high moisture content are particularly susceptible to such issues.

Desiccants are dried flower supplies work to remove water from plants more quickly than air drying. At the same time, they work to hold the flower in its natural form. Generally, they are blends of materials in which the flower may be buried.

As dried flower supplies, desiccants require good aeration. For that reason, non-iodized salt may be mixed into the blend. A popular option is made up of equal parts borax and white cornmeal. Fine, clean, and dry sand is used as an inexpensive alternative to cornmeal. However, cornmeal is preferred because it is lightweight and less likely to flatten flowers as a result.
